The full name of COB LCD is chip on board liquid crystal display. COB is a process for producing LCDs. IC and liquid crystal glass are bonded to PCB through anisotropic conductive film (ACF) process. Therefore, COB LCD is a liquid crystal display produced by COB process.
COB LCD is simple to develop and has a wide range of working environments. Therefore, COB LCDs are mostly monochrome displays. They are widely used in industrial equipment and household appliances, such as inverters, electronic meters, coffee machines and vending machines.
The full name of COG LCD is chip on glass liquid crystal display. Unlike COB process, COG LCD is to bond IC and liquid crystal glass to glass. The advantage of this is that the volume of COG LCD module will be reduced. It should be noted that PMOLED and TFT LCD also use COG packaging process.
The display quality of COG LCD is better than COB LCD. Therefore, COG LCD has a wider application field. They are not only used in industrial equipment and household appliances, but also in handheld devices, medical equipment, such as multimeters, remote controls, electronic blood pressure monitors, and electric bicycle meters.
Segment LCD is a non-lattice liquid crystal display, which is a segment display liquid crystal display. There are 7-segment LCD and 14-segment LCD. 7-segment LCD can only display numbers and simple letters, while 14-segment can display all 26 letters.
The built-in LCD MCU is driven by AC signals to turn on/off specific segments of the segment LCD to achieve the desired display effect. Therefore, almost every segment LCD is customized according to the needs of different customers.
